Toastmasters District 116 covers the region of Qatar, offering individuals a platform to enhance their public speaking, leadership, and communication skills. Through its network of clubs, it provides a supportive and encouraging environment where members can learn and practice. The district also hosts workshops, educational programs, and speech contests, helping members develop both personally and professionally.
Qatar, which was part of District 20 till 2017, was made into a new provisional District 116P due to the sudden geopolitical situation developed in the country that year. This was announced during the D20TAC 2017 at Kuwait and a new District Trio Rajeswar Sundaresan,DTM, (District Director), Raghavan Menon, DTM ( Program Quality Director) & Thayalan K, DTM (Club Growth Director) were elected, unanimously. In 2018, when Raghavan Menon, DTM was the District Director, the ‘Provisional’ tag was removed. During the first 3 years (Rajeswar Sundaresan, DTM as District Director in 2018, Raghavan Menon,DTM as District Director in 2019 & Thayalan.K, DTM as District Director in 2020), District 116 achieved the distingstion of becoming Smedly Distinguished & No.1 District in the world, 3 years in a row.
